Becomes school's 8th ASC Athlete of the Year

Four Hamilton College football coaches attended the 10th annual Lauren's First and Goal Football Camp at Lafayette College in Easton, Pa., where a record amount of more than $104,000 was raised for pediatric brain tumor research on June 2.

SALT LAKE CITY – The news Gallaudet University senior defensive back Tony Tatum (Gardendale, Ala.) had been waiting for, to sign a professional football contract, finally became a reality Wednesday when he was assigned to the Utah Blaze of the Arena Football League.

Last Thursday evening at the SUNY Maritime Senior Award Ceremony, Privateer football senior Martin Brown (Huntington Station, N.Y./Huntington) was recognized as one of the recipients of the Lt. Evans - Lt. Col. Howard College Football Player of the Year Award by the Sons of the American Legion, Squadron 50, based out of Pelham, N.Y. On hand at the ceremony to present the award to Brown was Ken Kraetzer, Commander of Sons of the American Legion in Pelham, N.Y. as well as Frank Barbieri, former Post 50 Commander.

Over 40 football players, coaches and staff head south for a pair of games in Uruguay and Argentina as part of an international exchange trip in May.

DALLAS – Gallaudet University football seniors Kevin Berrigan (Frederick, Md.) and Denton Mallas (South Milwaukee, Wis.) were named to the National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society, which is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 grade point average (GPA) or better throughout their college career.

The senior offensive lineman is one of 703 students honored from across the nation.

The Maritime football coaching staff will be holding a series of coaching clinics on Monday nights during May and June right on campus at Reinhart Field. The four dates of the clinics will be May 13 & 20 and June 10 & 17. Each clinic will run from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

For the second year in a row National Football League (NFL) scouts were on campus to evaluate a Gallaudet University football player as rising senior defensive end Adham Talaat (Springfield, Va.) worked out Monday for scouts from the Philadelphia Eagles and the Washington Redskins. Talaat a 6-foot-6, 285-pound defensive lineman ran the 40-yard dash, was measured and interviewed by the visiting scouts.

The announcement gives head coach Chris Rusiewicz an even dozen newcomers so far for 2013.

Albright College seniors Dane Canonico and Scott Pillar both participated in an NFL regional scouting combine last weekend at the New York Jets' training facility, but could not have come from more different sporting backgrounds.

CLEVELAND – Case Western Reserve University football Head Coach Greg Debeljak has announced the hiring of Warren Miller as the Spartans' new special teams coordinator and linebackers coach. Miller spent the past five seasons as linebackers coach at NCAA Division II Walsh University.
