Games of Sept. 12-15, 2013

Offense

QB Casey Kacz, Sr., Buffalo State
Kacz completed 74 percent of his passes (25 of 34) for 387 yards and a touchdown and ran for 74 yards of his own on 14 carries as Buffalo State edged Brockport State 42-40.

OL Jace Werkheiser, Alex Mann, John Cannova, Patrick Bolger, Greg Whalen, North Central
The group paved the way for a school-record 674 yards in the Cardinals' season-opening win. North Central ran 90 plays, only four of which resulted in lost yardage, and completed six scoring drives of at least 73 yards.

RB Joe Rollins, Sr., McDaniel
Rollins ran for 219 yards and all three touchdowns on 29 carries as McDaniel won for the first time under second-year coach Mike Hoyt. His scoring runs covered 44, 21 and 15 yards.

RB Joel Sweeney, Sr., UW-Eau Claire
Sweeney scored both of the Blugolds’ touchdowns in a 17-14 loss to St. John's. He had 266 yards on the ground on 43 carries, the second highest total he has reached in his career and the sixth largest total in school history.

WR Jordan Fukumoto, Jr., Pacific
Fukumoto had 197 receiving yards and three touchdowns on just seven catches. His first catch of the game was a 74-yard scoring pass from T.C. Campbell, the sixth longest in school history. He later had touchdown catches of 32 and 42 yards as the Boxers went on to rout Occidental 67-30.

WR Kevin Francis, Sr., St. John Fisher
Francis caught six balls for 174 yards and two touchdowns including an 87 yard reception on Fisher's first play of the game in a 42-21 win against Washington and Jefferson.

TE Casey Hippert, Jr., Worcester State
Hippert hauled in eight receptions for a career-best 183 yards in a 15-14 triumph against crosstown rival WPI. Six of the eight grabs came on third down and he caught a key 21-yard third-down conversion at midfield in the Lancers' game-winning touchdown drive against the Engineers.

Defense

DE Jeff Milner, Jr., Millsaps
Milner recorded three and a half tackles for loss, all of them sacks, in Millsaps' win against LaGrange. Two of the sacks were also forced fumbles which Millsaps recovered.

DT John Focosi, Sr., North Central
Focosi led North Central with three tackles for loss and two sacks as the Cardinals limited UW-La Crosse to 264 yards, more than 200 fewer than the Eagles gained the previous week. Both sacks led to UWL punts as the Eagles converted just one first down in the second and third periods combined.

DE Kurt Frischman, Sr., Illinois College
Frischman set single-game school records for sacks (3.5) and tackles for loss (5.5) as the Blueboys scored a 42-13 win over visiting Grinnell. Frischman led his team with eight tackles, and also tallied a pair of quarterback hurries.

LB Wesley Hansard, Jr., Birmingham-Southern
Hansard had four tackles for loss, including two and a half sacks, in a 35-32 win by Birmingham-Southern over Hendrix.

LB Adam Straughn, Sr., Worcester State
Straughn collected a game-best 12 tackles, 10 solo, to go with one fumble recovery in a 15-14 triumph over WPI. He also blocked an extra point on the Engineers' lone touchdown of the second half.

LB Mike Cousar, Sr., McDaniel
Cousar led the Green Terror defense with 11 tackles (five solo), including two tackles for loss. He broke up two passes and nabbed an interception with 19.8 seconds left to seal the victory and snap McDaniel's 13-game losing streak.

LB Nate Roberts, So., Olivet
Roberts provided a game-high 13 total tackles, with eight solo stops to lead the Comet defense in their 14-10 win over Wisconsin Lutheran. The defense held the Warriors scoreless in the second half.

CB Josh Treimer, Sr., Bethel
Treimer intercepted three passes in the first half of Bethel's season-opening 30-17 win over Wartburg College Saturday. Treimer returned the three picks 29 yards, including his 27-yard return for a touchdown in the first half. Additionally, Treimer wrapped up three tackles.

S Blaek Combs, Sr., Trine
Combs made 11 tackles, including eight solo stops, forced a fumble, had one tackle for loss and intercepted a pass that led to the go-ahead score in the fourth quarter of Trine’s 16-7 win vs. Elmhurst.

S Ty Johnson, So., Texas Lutheran
Hill had 21 tackles, 12 of them solo, along with a forced fumble as Texas Lutheran defeated Trinity (Texas) 42-38.

CB Antoine Allen-Jackson, Sr., Coe
Allen-Jackson had a career-high three interceptions, including his first career interception return for a touchdown, in Coe's victory over Cornell in the oldest football rivalry West of the Mississippi River. Two of his interceptions came in the red zone, as Coe beat Cornell for the 14th consecutive time.

Special teams

K Andrew Franks, Jr., RPI
Franks kicked a school record five field goals, including a school record-tying 50-yarder and a 37-yarder with 1:04 left in the fourth quarter, to lead Rensselaer to a 24-21 win at Alfred. Among the field goals for Franks was tying his own school record of 50 yards in the first half, a 40-yard strike in the fourth quarter that tied the game at 21-21 and his game-winner. He also had a 45-yarder and a 31-yard kick. He was 5-for-5 on field goal attempts, while also kicking an extra point to account for 16 of RPI's 24 points. Andrew also kicked off for the Engineers, averaging 65.0 yards with two touchbacks on seven attempts.

P Dylan Rushe, Sr., Endicott
Rushe averaged 50.5 yards on four punts (and contributed 19 points as the kicker) to help Endicott roll past Castleton State 43-7. His long was 63 yards.

AP Matthew Kennemer, Jr., Trinity (Texas)
Kennemer did it all in the Tigers' loss to Texas Lutheran, connecting on all five extra points and hitting a 32-yard field goal, punting twice, returning four kicks and a punt, as well as bringing in seven catches for 178 yards to lead all receivers.

RET Bobby Rosano, Jr., Mass Maritime
Rosano returned a kickoff 86 yards for a touchdown late in the third quarter that sparked a Buccaneer comeback from 10-point deficit in 24-20 Chowder Bowl victory over SUNY-Maritime.
