BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins football team continued its steady rise in the national rankings this week as the Blue Jays moved up in the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and D3football.com Polls as well the ECAC Lambert Meadowlands Division III Poll. The Blue Jays inched up from 10th to ninth in the AFCA poll and jumped two spots from 15th to 13th in the D3football.com Poll. Hopkins also moved up one spot from fifth to fourth in the Lambert Meadowlands Poll. The Blue Jays earned 690 points in the AFCA Poll, while they totaled 306 points in the D3football.com Poll. Point totals are not listed in the Lambert Meadowlands Poll.

The AFCA Poll, which the Johns Hopkins Athletic Communications Office uses to reflect JHU's official national ranking, is headed again this week by Mount Union, which grabbed 41 of 42 first-place votes and totaled 1,049 points. Mary Hardin-Baylor earned the remaining first-place vote and checks in at number two in the poll with 1,006 points, while St. Thomas (950 points), Linfield (925) and Wesley (863) round out the top five.

Johns Hopkins (8-0, 7-0 Centennial) has now been ranked in the top 25 by the AFCA for 17 consecutive weeks dating back to the start of the 2011 season and this is the 16th straight poll in which the Blue Jays have been ranked in the top 20. This is also the 35th time Johns Hopkins has been ranked in the top 25 by the AFCA since 1999, when it first released its rankings. Johns Hopkins is one of 10 schools that has been ranked in the top 25 by the AFCA every week since the start of the 2011 season.

Mount Union also tops the D3football.com Poll as the Purple Raiders grabbed 24 of 25 first-place votes and 624 points. Mary Hardin-Baylor grabbed the other first-place vote and 597 points to check in at number two, while Linfield (562), St. Thomas (550) and Wesley (518) also round out the top five in this poll. This week's #13 ranking marks the 28th time Johns Hopkins has been ranked in the top 25 by D3football.com since its poll debuted in 2003.

In the Lambert Meadowlands Poll, Hobart stands alone at the top and is followed by Wesley and Widener, which are tied for the second spot. Johns Hopkins checks in at number four and Cortland St. is fifth.

Johns Hopkins returns to action and puts its 22-game regular season winning streak on the line on Saturday, November 3 when the Blue Jays travel to Franklin & Marshall (6-2, 5-2 CC). The Blue Jays have already secured at least a share of the Centennial Conference title and can secure the league's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Playoffs with a win in either of their last two games.
