ROYAL OAK, Mich. – The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association has named Albion wide receiver Brian Spencer, Hope defensive back Mark Karam and Adrian punter/placekicker Dustin Salliotte its Players of the Week in football for games played through November 10.
Offensive Player of the Week
Spencer, a senior from East Lansing (East Lansing HS), caught 16 passes, an Albion school record and one shy of the MIAA single-game record for receptions, for 213 yards and two touchdowns in Albion’s 28-20 loss to Hope. He also returned five punts for 39 yards, giving him 252 yards of all-purpose running for the day. Spencer is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Defensive Player of the Week
Karam, a senior from Grosse Pointe (Warren De La Salle HS), intercepted two passes, including one he returned 75 yards for a touchdown just before halftime, and recovered a fumble in Hope’s 28-20 road victory at Albion. Karam is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Salliotte, a junior from Brownstown (Woodhaven HS), kicked a 43-yard field goal that proved crucial as Adrian rallied from a 16-0 deficit to knock off nationally-ranked Huntingdon, Ala., 17-16. He also averaged 39.2 yards on nine punts, placing two punts inside the Hawks’ 20-yard-line. Salliotte is being honored as Player of the Week for the third time this season and in his career..
