GOLDEN BEAR RECEIVES GOLD HELMET. Western New England junior Mike Graham (Norwalk, CT) was the Division II/III winner of the Gold Helmet Award presented by the New England Football Writers Association during their weekly luncheon Wednesday (Nov. 2) at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. With Mike (from left) are Craig Larson of The Boston Globe, Western New England athletic communications director Ken Cerino, Northeastern associate athletics director of athletics for communications Jack Grinold who is the MC of the event, and John Connolly of The Boston Herald. Graham returned kickoffs of 85 and 83 yards for touchdowns in a 40-37 victory over previously undefeated Endicott to help the Golden Bears clinch the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Boyd Division title. Graham leads the nation (all divisions) with a 43.8 average for 11 returns and has four touchdowns this season. He also was named the NEFC Special Teams and ECAC Division III New England Player-of-the-Week, and to the d3football.com Division III National Team-of-the-Week.
