DOVER, Del. - Wesley College assistant coach Leroy Thompson was among the 2011 inductees into the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame.

Coach Thompson, who graduated from Williamstown High School, was inducted along with 13 others on March 29.

"It is truly an honor to be recognized by the Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame," Thompson noted. "There is a long list of great inductees this year and in the past, and I feel honored to be a part of that group."

He played collegiately at Delaware State University, where he was an All-American and set school records for sacks in a game and in a season.  Thompson then embarked on a 13-year career in the Arena Football League before entering the coaching ranks.  During his time in the AFL, he was a member of the 1999 Arena Bowl Champions and won the 2002 AFL Built Ford Tough Man of the Year.

"We are very proud of Coach Thompson and all of his accomplishments," said Wesley head coach Mike Drass. "The Gloucester County Sports Hall of Fame is a very deserving honor."

This season, he coached the D3football.com South Region Defensive Player of the Year and helped the Wolverines advance to the NCAA Division III Semifinals, finishing with a 12-1 record.
