10.27 - Thunder Sixth in NCAA Region
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Football Regional rankings were released Wednesday with Trine ranked sixth in the NCAA’s North region.

Wheaton (7-0) is ranked Number 1. North Central (7-0), Mount Union (7-0), Ohio Northern (6-1) and Case (7-0) round out the top five spots.

Baldwin-Wallace (6-1) is seventh; Franklin (6-1) is eighth followed by Wittenberg (8-0) and Wabash (6-1) in the ninth and tenth spots.

Twenty-three conference champions, including the MIAA champ, earn automatic entry into the Division III playoffs, but these rankings are a major component in determining playoff seeding. The rankings are updated weekly by the NCAA’s Division III football committee through the end of the season.

Trine is ranked eighth in the American Football Coaches Association Poll, and No. 15 in D3Football.com’s poll.  The Thunder host Olivet Saturday at 1 p.m.

The playoff pairings will be announced Sunday, November 14. The first round of the playoffs is Saturday, November 20.
