Ithaca Prevails in 66th Cortaca Jug Thriller, 26-21
November 15, 2025ITHACA, N.Y. – In one of the most memorable Cortaca Jugs in recent history, the Ithaca College football team took down No. 14/20 Cortland, 26-21, at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium in the 66th Cortaca Jug on November 15 in front of a jam-packed crowd of over 8,000 fans. Ithaca concludes its regular season with an 8-2 record. -
Cortaca going back to the Bronx
November 12, 2025The rivalry between Cortland and Ithaca is returning to Yankee Stadium in 2026, it was announced today. The game was played in the Bronx in 2022, when it resulted in the second-largest crowd to ever witness a Division III football game. -
Ithaca Blanks St. Lawrence, 41-0, On Senior Day
November 09, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team closed out Liberty League play with a shutout of St. Lawrence, 41-0, on Senior Day at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium on November 9. The Bombers have now won five straight games and 6-3 on the season, securing a share of the Liberty League title. IC also posted its third shutout of the year, which is the first time for an IC team to shutout an opponent three or more times in a season since 1988. -
Ithaca Routs RPI at Home, 33-14
October 19, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team leveled its record to 3-3 on the season with a dominant, 33-14, Liberty League victory against RPI at Butterfield Stadium on October 19. With the triumph, IC also evens the all-time series at 5-5 against the Engineers as the Bombers have now won three straight in the rivalry and surpassed 30 points for the first time (previous high was 27 in 2001). -
Ithaca Stifles Rochester in 24-0 Shutout Win
October 12, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – The Ithaca College football team dominated by shutting out previously unbeaten University of Rochester, 24-0, on Saturday in a Liberty League showdown at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium. Ithaca rushed for 287 yards in the win and held UR to 286 yards of offense as the Bombers improve to 7-0 all-time against the Yellowjackets. -
Ithaca Ties School Record for First Downs in 38-13 Win at Curry
September 28, 2024MILTON, Mass. – The Ithaca College football team earned its first win of the 2024 season and tied a school record for first downs in a 38-13 victory at Curry College on September 28. Ithaca racked up 35 first downs in the win to match the previous record set against Albany in 1993. -

September 14, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 24 Ithaca College football team dropped to 0-2 on the season as No. 16 Endicott College came away with a 13-7 victory at Butterfield Stadium on September 14. IC’s offense was held to just 196 yards of offense and turned the ball over four times. -

September 07, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 20 Ithaca College football team jumped out to a 17-point lead against No. 8 Johns Hopkins University in the 2024 season opener at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium, but the Blue Jays scored 20 unanswered points to take the lead and held on to top IC, 27-23. -

Slywka Signs Contract with Indianapolis Colts Following Minicamp Invite
June 06, 2024ITHACA, N.Y. – Following a minicamp invitation, the Indianapolis Colts announced the signing of former Ithaca College free safety Derek Slywka on June 6. Slywka will move to the other side of the ball and play wide receiver when he returns to Indianapolis for training camp in late July. -

November 11, 2023ITHACA, N.Y. – The 64th Cortaca Jug Game lived up to all the hype, as always, but the nationally ranked No. 14 Ithaca College football team fell to No. 15 Cortland, 38-28, at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium. The loss drops Ithaca to 8-2 to conclude the regular season and the Bombers will find out who and where they will play on Sunday evening as part of the NCAA Selection Show at 5 p.m. Cortland finishes the regular season at 9-1. -

November 04, 2023CANTON, N.Y. - In Saturday’s Liberty League finale, the nationally ranked No. 15/16 Ithaca College football team continued to keep their foot on the gas following their title-clinching victory last weekend. The Bombers traveled to St. Lawrence and dominated all three aspects of the game. IC put on an all-around performance, controlling the ground game, creating challenging third-down situations for St. Lawrence and special teams' turnovers. Despite a few penalties, Ithaca consistently rose to the occasion, giving the Saints issues from the first snap and securing a 51-14 victory to improve to 8-1 on the season and close out Liberty League play with a perfect 6-0 record. -

October 07, 2023Troy, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 16/18 Ithaca College football team embarked on an overnight road trip to face off against the undefeated RPI Engineers on Saturday afternoon in a Liberty League matchup. With the Bombers having three consecutive wins under their belt, including last week’s home victory against Hobart College, Ithaca wanted to maintain their momentum. IC did just that, defeating RPI, 20-17, in overtime on a 34-yard field goal by Derek Baldin. -
No. 17/18 Ithaca Opens Bertino Field With 24-14 Win over Hobart
September 30, 2023ITHACA, N.Y. - The nationally ranked No. 17/18 Ithaca College football team looked to improve on their two-game winning streak on Saturday at Bertino Field at Butterfield Stadium, returning to play against Hobart College Statesmen after a bye week. Ithaca would end up continuing its winning ways, defeating the Statesmen by a score of 24-14 to advance to 3-1 on the season, and handing Hobart its first loss of the season. The Bombers are now 18-0 all-time at home against the Statesmen. -
Ithaca's Villanueva Earns AP Second Team All-American Honors
December 16, 2022ITHACA, N.Y. – The Associated Press released its Division III Football All-Americans on December 15 and Jake Villanueva, a senior offensive lineman for Ithaca College, was voted to the second team. The AP is the second of three outlets to release All-America teams for the 2022 season, as the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) already revealed its selections and D3football.com will announce its teams over the next few days. -
Toerper Named AFCA Region 1 Coach of the Year
December 07, 2022ITHACA, N.Y. - The American Football Coaches Association released its regional coaches of the year on December 6 for the 2022 season and Ithaca College head coach Michael Toerper was selected as Division III Region 1 Coach of the Year. The AFCA will announce the 2022 National Coaches of the Year winners in FBS, FCS, Division II, Division III and NAIA on Monday, January 9. The Regional winners in each division are finalists for National Coach of the Year. -

No. 9/10 Ithaca Squares Up Against No. 1 North Central in NCAA Quarterfinals
November 30, 2022ITHACA, N.Y. – The nationally ranked No. 9/10 Ithaca College football team will head to the Midwest this Saturday, December 3, to take on No. 1 North Central College in Naperville, Ill. in the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals. Both teams are 12-0 on the season and will battle for the trip to the national semifinals.
