Cortland survived to keep its at-large playoff chances alive headed into the Cortaca Jug showdown with Ithaca, while Baldwin Wallace and Wilkes each picked up their second loss and put their playoff chances on life support in Saturday's Division III football action. Ithaca, ranked in the Top 25, also picked up a second loss as well.

Cortland scored 29 points in the third and fourth quarter to get past Hartwick 32-21. The Red Dragons capped the first half with a 90-yard drive, capped by a 20-yard field goal by Nick Mongelli to cut the Hawks' lead to 14-3. Cortland took the lead on a Mongelli 46-yarder with 6:08 to go. Hartwick answered with a touchdown, but Cortland scored the final 17 points of the game to secure the win. Zach Tripodi ran for 204 yards, including a 66-yard run with 5:45 left in the game, coming after the Red Dragons had blocked a short field goal attempt which would have given Hartwick the lead.

Ohio Northern all but eliminated Baldwin Wallace from at-large playoff contention as the Polar Bears defeated the Yellow Jackets 35-28. Ohio Northern scored on its first three possessions, then got a key fourth quarter stop to hang on. Christiaan Williams ran 22 times for 118 yards and a touchdown, making him just the second player in Ohio Northern history to eclipse the 4,000-yard mark in his career. It's the second loss for BW, which finishes its season next week with John Carroll (8-1).

Stevenson took advantage of five takeaways in the first half to build a 28-7 lead early in the second quarter before Wilkes scored twice to make it a one-score game early in the fourth, but a pair of late touchdowns lifted the Mustangs to a 42-21 win in MAC play. It is the second loss for Wilkes, which was ranked in the NCAA's first set of East Region rankings and could have moved up with Ithaca's loss.

Brockport clinched the Empire 8 with a 16-7 win vs. Alfred, courtesy of another gutsy effort by the Golden Eagles defense, two scores from running back Jala Coad, and an incredible 11:28 fourth quarter possession that took 21 plays and spanned 84 yards. The clock eating drive resulted in an insurance field goal for the Golden Eagles (24 yards) from the foot of Dustin Moyle to put the home team on top 16-7. Brockport's defense forced a turnover on downs on the next possession to lock up the victory.

It will be familiar foes in the Midwest Conference title game once again, as St. Norbert defeated Lake Forest to clinch the North Division crown and Monmouth defeated rival Knox for the Bronze Turkey to win the South Division. Lake Forest cut the St. Norbert lead to 21-20 on a 43-yard field goal by Michael Bounds with 8:24 left in the third quarter. But the Green Knights (6-2, 4-0 MWC North) scored the final 13 points to put the game away. Gage McClanahan hit St. Norbert's all-everything wide receiver, Samuel Staehling for a 73-yard gain, then hit Mark Molitor for a 21-yard touchdown with 3:51 left. Danny Simon added field goals of 32 and 33 yards in the 34-20 win. Devin Lawrence and Henderson Francois combined for 29 carries and 267 yards, scoring three touchdowns as Monmouth defeated Knox 31-3. It's Monmouth's 21st consecutive win in the Bronze Turkey series.

MIT, WPI and Springfield all won on Saturday, to remain in a three-way tie for first place in the NEWMAC. Sean McAllen and Connor Field combined to rush for 243 yards and five rushing touchdowns in the first half to lead WPI to a 54-7 win over Coast Guard. Chris Mauck threw four touchdown passes for MIT, which pulled away from Norwich in the second half of a 34-21 victory. Springfield had little trouble at Maine Maritime, as 12 players had between 15 and 95 rushing yards in a 56-7 win.

The group will not end up in a three-way tie, as MIT and Springfield play next week. MIT can win the NEWMAC's automatic bid with a win against Springfield For WPI to earn the bid, the Engineers must defeat Norwich and Springfield must upend MIT.

Western New England clinched its third consecutive Commonwealth Coast Conference championship with a 35-0 shutout at Becker. The Golden Bears (8-1, 6-0 CCC) were led by senior running back Jamyre Soberanis and senior quarterback Alec Coleman. Soberanis rushed seven times for 119 yards (17.0 per attempt) and two touchdowns, while Coleman completed 14 of 23 pass attempts for 156 yards, two scores and an interception.

SUNY-Maritime, which clinched the automatic bid from the ECFC last week, lost on Saturday as Alfred State scored 14 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to win 21-17. Maritime fell to 4-5, and finishes the regular season with Mount St. Joseph, which beat Anderson 76-46 on Saturday to improve to 7-2.

Tommy Galante threw for six touchdowns, and ran for two, and FDU-Florham added four more touchdowns besides as the Devils defeated Alvernia 84-56. FDU rolled up 703 yards of total offense on 70 snaps. Alnazir Blackman ran for 205 yards and two touchdowns on just 17 carries, while Galante was 23-for-39 passing for 351 yards. Sophomore running back Malcolm Carey ran for 212 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries, part of a 323-yard day on the ground for Alvernia (2-7, 1-6 MAC). FDU-Florham finishes its season at 3-7, 2-6 in the MAC.
