Team of the Week

Games of Nov. 3-4, 2000

Offense

QB Duke Greco, Jr., Delaware Valley
Greco tied a school record with five touchdown passes while also rushing for a score in Delaware Valley's 55-42 win at Albright. Greco, who started at safety the last two years before taking over the starting quarterback role this year, tied Jim Smith's mark against Loch Haven back in 1968. Greco threw scoring passes of 42, 41, 2, 75 and 56. His rushing touchdown was from 2 yards out.

OL LT Jeff Faust, Sr.; LG Tom Worrilow, Jr.; C Rob Schneider, So.; RG Larry Bender, So.; RT Bill Woodburn, Sr.; TE Mike Kelly, Jr.; Widener
The offensive line helped Widener rack up a season-high 596 yards as Widener won its conference-leading 14th Middle Atlantic Conference title with a 46-14 win against Lebanon Valley. The Pioneer offensive line helped the Pioneers smash several school records for quarterback Mike Granato and receivers Jim Jones and Michael Coleman. The offensive line helped Granato to pass for 435 yards in 22 attempts and five touchdowns and the ground game rushed for 144 yards on 46 attempts.

RB Isaac Hernandez, Jr., Susquehanna
Hernandez ran 25 times for a career-high 123 yards and two touchdowns as the Crusaders upset Lycoming 16-14 on Saturday. Hernandez scored on runs of 4 and 2 yards in the third quarter to help Susquehanna overcome a 14-3 halftime deficit and snap a three-game losing streak. It was the first 100-yard game of Hernandez's career and his first two-touchdown game as well.

RB Kevin Sinclair, Jr., Rowan
Sinclair was the game's leading rusher in a 45-14 victory over New Jersey Athletic Conference opponent William Paterson. Sinclair had a 2-yard TD carry in the fourth quarter which gave Rowan a 38-7 lead. His 72-yard run in the second quarter set up a Profs' field goal. The 126 yards was his season high on the ground.

RB Mylon Jones, Sr., Aurora
Mylon Jones had his third consecutive 100-yard game for Aurora in the Spartans' 21-14 win against Concordia (Wis.). For the game Mylon had 123 yards on 29 carries. With the win Aurora will advance to the NCAA playoffs.

WR Jim Jones, Jr., Widener
Jim Jones had another stellar performance and continued to rewrite the Widener record book. Jones broke the school record he tied last week with 250 yards on 11 catches and tied the school record for touchdowns in a game with three. He also returned two punts for 15 yards. Jones went over 100 yards in a game for the sixth time this season.

WR Jonathan Cain, Jr., Wilmington
Cain had 216 yards on 10 catches and two scores, posting his second 200-plus-yard game of the year. He has 1,271 yards this season and is just 27 shy of tying the WC single-season record of 1,298 set by Jason Tincher in 1994.

Defense

DL B.J. Hammer, Sr., Wabash
Had a great day getting into the backfield registering two and a half sacks, and dropping three players for losses of 19 yards.

DL Jeremy Sewell, Sr., Rose-Hulman
Sewell had seven tackles, four tackles for loss, two pass breakups and one sack in Rose-Hulman's 10-0 loss to DePauw on Saturday. Sewell also rushed 23 yards for a first down on a fourth-down fake punt, then later completed a 23-yard pass to fellow defensive end David Berty on another fake punt to keep a drive alive.

DL Dustin Collier, Sr., Moravian
Collier made six solo tackles with three for loss and two sacks (for minus-18 yards) in Moravian's 28-21 win at Wilkes. Collier's second sack put the Colonels on the Wilkes 2-yard line and forced Wilkes to punt, which was returned for a touchdown. Collier also had one fumble recovery in the game, one of four turnovers Moravian forced.

LB Jamie Spielman, So., UW-Stout
Spielman had an interception and fumble recovery on consecutive series in the second quarter of Stout's 14-13 win against UW-Whitewater. Spielman was in on 11 tackles, three solo, and had two tackles for losses of 8 yards.

LB Adam Corbett, Jr., Grove City
Recorded a career-high 19 tackles, including 11 solos, in the Wolverines' 14-10 win over visiting Carnegie Mellon. Helped secure the victory with a bone-jarring pass breakup over the middle late in the fourth quarter.

LB Jeff Bormes, Sr., Bethel
Bormes, filling in for an injured linebacker, led the Bethel defense with 15 total tackles (12 solo, 3 assists) as the Royals clinched their first-ever MIAC championship. Included in his 15 tackles were three tackles for loss (minus-6 yards), one sack (minus-1 yard), one recovered fumble, and one interception.

LB Mark McDonough, Jr., Ithaca
Had 12 total tackles, and added 2 key defensive plays that were key plays in the Bomber victory. McDonough's sack came on the Buffalo State's last play as the Bengals ran a fourth-and-goal play from the Ithaca one-yard line. McDonough sacked Buffalo State's quarterback and the Bombers ran out the clock for the 27-20 win. His interception (his fourth in three weeks) at midfield stopped the Bengals' final drive of the first half.

DB Andre Summers, Sr., Wesley
The senior defensive back had six tackles (five solo), one TFL, one forced fumble, two pass breakups, one interception returned for 14 yards, and a fumble recovery returned 96 yards for a Wolverine touchdown in a win against Chowan. The win puts Wesley at 8-1.

DB Alex Ferrante, Sr., Rowan
Led the Profs' defense with nine total tackles and three pass breakups.

DB Roque Vela, Sr., McMurry
Vela put another solid effort at free safety for the Indians. He recorded two interceptions. He also accounted for 11 solo tackles on the afternoon.

DB Patrick Fahey, Jr., Colby
Fahey finished with 11 tackles, three pass breakups, and two interceptions. He intercepted a pass during a fake punt attempt and returned it 55 yards.

Special teams

P Kevin McCulley, Sr., UW-Stout
McCulley averaged 44.3 yards/punt (eight for 354 yds) to boost his season average to 41.2 yards per punt, but it was his placement of the punts that gave Stout an advantage. McCulley placed five punts inside the 20, and twice pooched the ball to the 3 to give Whitewater poor field position.

K Tom Hillimeier, Jr., Kalamazoo
Hillimeier was 3-for-3 on field goals covering 34, 34 and 29 yards and kicked 2-of-2 extra points in the Hornets' 27-23 loss to Albion. He also averaged 42.0 yards on four punts with a long of 61 yards and two inside the 20-yard line.

RET Terry Carter, Jr., Ferrum
Returned seven punts for 203 yards, and took two back for touchdowns, one of those 73 yards. Carter was instrumental in the 36-7 win, keeping their slim Pool B bid hopes alive.
