Cardinals Caged! Football Soars to OAC Victory

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Coming off its bye week, the Baldwin Wallace University football team defeated Otterbein University in an Ohio Athletic Conference game by a final score of 56-14 at Memorial Stadium.

With the victory, BW (4-1, 3-1 OAC) extended its post-bye week winning streak to seven games and improved to 43-12-1 in the all-time series against Otterbein, claiming its seventh consecutive win over the Cardinals. Otterbein (0-5, 0-4 OAC) has now dropped eight straight games dating back to last season and has been outscored by the Yellow Jackets 270-76 over the last seven meetings.

BW Leaders

  • Junior All-OAC quarterback Charlie Bubonics (Solon) completed 17-of-24 passes for 197 yards with four touchdowns
  • Junior Academic All-OAC running back George Linberger (Barberton/St. Vincent-St. Mary) rushed for a game-high 121 yards on 24 carries with one touchdown
  • Freshman running back Boston Mulinix (North Benton/West Branch) rushed for 103 yards on four carries with a career-long 71-yard touchdown
  • Junior Academic All-OAC wide receiver Xavier Balson (North Olmsted) caught five passes for a career-high 100 yards with a career-best two touchdowns
  • Senior All-OAC linebacker Dom Tromba (Painesville/Riverside) led the defensive unit with five tackles

Otterbein Leaders

  • Sophomore quarterback Brayden Bayles completed 7-of-19 passes for 51 yards
  • Freshman running back Rocco DeLorenzo rushed for 106 yards on 15 carries
  • Senior tight end Christian Pataky caught two passes for 11 yards
  • Sophomore Troy Montgomery led the defense with a game-high nine stops

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, October 18 when they return to friendly confines of the Tressel Field inside the George Finnie Stadium for a non-conference game against Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology (Ind.) at 1:30 p.m.
