DUDLEY, Mass. (9/27/2025) – The Nichols football team celebrated Homecoming in style, earning its first win of the 2025 season over conference opponent New England College, 41-21 in front of a packed Vendetti Field.
The Bison improve to 1-3 (1-0 CNE) overall with the win, while the Pilgrims drop to 0-4 (0-1 CNE).
Nichols finished the game with 471 yards on offense—211 passing and 260 rushing—with no turnovers. There was no shortage of standout performers for the Bison in their CNE opener, with first-year running back Evan Toth leading the way behind 138 rushing yards, and three rushing touchdowns. Senior quarterback Ian Snow completed 16-of-26 passes for 211 yards, also contributing a pair of rushing touchdowns for the second time in as many games, while junior tight end Teyshon McGee pieced together a career-day of 83 receiving yards, with a long of 52 against the Pilgrims. Defensively, senior linebacker Alec Calverly paced the Bison with nine total tackles, a career best, including a pair of tackles for a loss of five combined yards. Nichols' special teams did its part, with sophomore kicker going 5-for-6 on extra point attempts.
Nichols scored a touchdown on its opening drive of the afternoon, with Snow sneaking it up the middle from a first-and-goal after taking the ball down the field for 68 yards on nine plays. To follow, the two sides went scoreless through the next three shared drives, before Toth made it 14-0 early on in the second quarter with a 15-yard rushing touchdown, the first of his collegiate career. New England College would cut slash Nichols' lead in half with their first touchdown of the day with 4:32 left in the half, but the Bison would re-solidify their position on the following drive to make it 21-7, courtesy of a four-yard rush up the middle by Snow.
Both teams shared the scoring in the third, with Nichols' lone touchdown coming off a 12-yard rush by Toth, which in turn made it a 28-7 game. However, the Bison would double-down their scoring in the final quarter, with Toth returning for his third and final touchdown of the game, this time from just two yards out. To complete the offensive effort, Snow launched a 52-yard pass to find McGee stationed in the New England College endzone, putting the game well out of reach at 41-14.
Despite on final counter by the Pilgrims, the Bison would stand their ground till the end for the 41-21 victory.
Next up for Nichols is a road trip to Maine Maritime Academy (0-3) for their second CNE test of the season, with kickoff set for 1:00 PM from Ritchie Field.
