Homecoming Rout of Knox Lifts Lake Forest to 4-0

More news about: Lake Forest

The Forester football team posted a 42-0 Homecoming victory over Knox College on Saturday.

The shutout was Lake Forest's second in a row against the Pioneers and 196th in program history.

Leading the defense in tackles was junior safety Thomas DeChesaro with nine while junior defensive tackle Michael Kelley was next with a career-high eight. Graduate student Jaylen Johnson, another defensive tackle, also set a career high with seven stops, including a pair of sacks.

The Forester defense's three sacks in the game match Knox's three completions and totaled more lost yardage (12) than the visitors gained on those catches (8). Lake Forest out-gained the Prairie Fire 399-128 on the day.

The home team's performance on defense also featured the first career interception for senior defensive back Albin Arulanandu.

Lake Forest's output on offense was headlined by senior wide receiver Langston Metoyer's career-high seven catches, 113 yards, and two touchdowns. Senior quarterback Joshua Gasca completed 20 of 28 passes for 262 yards and the scores to Metoyer.

Gasca was also one of nine different Foresters with rushing attempts and they combined for 132 yards on 26 carries. Graduate student A.J. Jackson reached the end zone on runs of two and four yards and senior tailback Mal Chunn scored from 13 yards out.

The Foresters' other touchdown came on a punt that was blocked by Nick Jako and scooped up by fellow senior defensive back Dominic Lewis, who sprinted 20 yards to the end zone.

Lake Forest remained perfect on the season with four victories overall and three in Midwest Conference play. Knox fell to 2-2 overall and 1-2 in the league.

The Foresters will travel to Lawrence University next Saturday for a noon kickoff.
