ANNVILLE, Pa. – Tanner Lewis threw a touchdown pass and ran for a 58-yard score for the Lebanon Valley football team on Saturday afternoon in a Middle Atlantic Conference game against Widener University on Arnold Field. The visiting Pride hung on for a 26-20 victory over the Dutchmen after a fourth quarter rally fell just short.
Widener scored on their first possession of the game taking the ball 75 yards in five plays for a 7-0 lead. The Dutchmen were held off the board until the second quarter when Lewis tucked the ball in on a third and eight and found a seam up the middle for a 58-yard touchdown run. The extra point was blocked by the Pride. The visitors scored the next two touchdowns of the game to take a 19-6 lead with 4:55 to go in the third quarter. On the second touchdown extra point attempt, Adam Acker got through the line and blocked the kick toward the Widener sideline. Tim Convery picked it up at the 15 and ran all the way down the field for two points giving the Dutchmen momentum.
LVC then drove the ball down the field and ended an 11-play drive that took 6:39 off the clock with a Tim Ervey three-yard touchdown run to cut the lead to 19-14. Widener would score to take a 26-14 lead but the Dutchmen came right back on the next drive and Lewis found Malaki Blair open over the middle for a 12-yard touchdown pass. That was as close as the Dutchmen would get as the Widener defense held the Dutchmen off the board for the rest of the game.

- Lewis threw for 105 yards on 10 completions in his first start for the Dutchmen. He was also a force on the ground with 119 rushing yards averaging 10.8 per attempt.
- Reilly Taylor had three receptions for 33 yards while Blair finished with 19 yards on three receptions.
- Ervey had 43 rushing yards and a touchdown while Dion Bryant rushed for 25 yards on nine carries.
- Jacob Horton led the defense with 15 tackles and a quarterback hurry.
- Rhyle Strausbaugh had a strip sack of the quarterback at the end of the first half to put a halt to a Widener drive.
- Ryan Gibney and Jordan Blauch had nine tackles each for the defense.
- The Dutchmen had 292 yards of total offense on 187 yards rushing and 105 passing. LVC scored on both of their red-zone possessions.
Up Next
LVC will be off next week before closing out the regular season on November 12 at Arnold Field against Albright College. Kickoff against the Lions is scheduled for 12 p.m.
