LOS ANGELES — Bryan Scott capped an amazing career with a performance for the ages at Chapman on Saturday, throwing for 429 yards and five touchdowns, while breaking another record in the process.
Scott, who earlier this year became the SCIAC's all-time passing yards leader, sets Oxy's single season passing record with 3,058 yards. He finishes his career with 9,073 yards passing, a 66.4 completion percentage, 77 touchdowns and just 22 interceptions in 33 games played.
Scott, who has already been named an All-SCIAC quarterback in his career, is almost a lock to return as the First Team All-SCIAC quarterback after leading the conference in almost every major passing category.
But as has been the story this season, while Scott and the Tigers' offense had no problem scoring or moving the ball, Oxy couldn't stop anyone on defense, falling 61-37 to the Panthers.
The Tigers finish a down year 1-8 overall and 1-6 in SCIAC play. Oxy had three consecutive winning seasons prior to this year under head coach Doug Semones.
Oxy's receiving crew had a big day led by Ian Bonde, who made eight catches for 103 yards and two touchdowns and Dan Gittleman-Egan, who snagged eight passes for 107 yards and one score. Isiah Ameachi caught four passes for 64 yards and two touchdowns.
Oxy running back Chris Rom-Toribio ran for 89 yards on 12 carries.
The Tigers were competitive until Chapman rattled off three unanswered touchdowns in the second quarter to open up a 40-16 lead by halftime.
Quarterback Ricky Batista led the Panthers with 432 yards passing and six touchdowns.
