HIRAM, OHIO -- Senior Robert Partridge (Massillon/Washington) threw for a career-high 410 yards, as the Hiram College football team defeated Kenyon by a 31-8 score on Saturday afternoon at Henry Field.
The Terriers improve to 3-3 on the season and 2-3 in NCAC play. The Lords drop to 0-5, 0-4.
Partridge completed 24-of-35 passes and also threw for three touchdowns. He also had 24 yards on five carries.
Sophomore receiver Joshua Philander (Fort Myers, Fla./South Fort Myers) hauled in six catches for a career best 203 yards and two touchdowns.
Junior Jaylen Dinard (Tampa, Fla./Paul R. Wharton) added six catches for 79 yards and a touchdown.
Defensively, Hiram was led by sophomore Kyle Burchett (Fairport Harbor/Harding) who had 14 tackles, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.
The Terriers came out of the gate strong, forcing a Kenyon three and out on the opening possession of the game.
Hiram wasted no time getting on the scoreboard, as Partridge hooked up with Philander for a 74-yard touchdown strike on the Terriers third offensive play, to put them in front 7-0.
Kenyon would get a safety with 4:24 left in the first quarter, cutting Hiram's lead to 7-2.
The Terriers would come right back and use a 13-play, 74-yard drive, capped off on a two-yard touchdown run by freshman Brendon Carr (Wellsville/Wellsville Local), to push their lead to 14-2 with just over 13 minutes left in the first half.
A one-yard score by the Lords' Blake Calcei with 37 seconds left in the half cut Hiram's lead to 14-8 heading into the break.
In the second half, Partridge found Dinard on a 13-yard strike to expand Hiram's lead to 21-8.
Partridge and Philander would hook up again for another score, this time from five-yards out, pushing the Terriers lead to 28-8.
Senior Greg Klisuric (Mentor) would add a 27-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter to close out the scoring in the contest.
Hiram racked up 505 yards of total offense in the game, compared to 351 for Kenyon. The Terriers also forced four turnovers.
Kenyon was led by Jake Bates who threw for 266 yards and Brian Hunca who caught eight passes for 168 yards.
Hiram will be idle next week and will return to action on October 25, when it travels to take on Ohio Wesleyan at 1:00 p.m.
