Michael McNulty scored a pair of second half touchdowns and the defense picked off four passes to help lead the Benedictine University football team to a 36-10 victory over North Park University on Saturday.

McNulty gained 169 yards on the ground as Benedictine amassed nearly 200 yards on the ground. The newcomer found the endzone on runs of six and 28 yards. The Eagles also scored a pair of touchdowns on defense. Jarrett Lecas returned a pick 52 yards for a score late in the first half while Stefan Herron scooted 53 yards on another interception to account for the final score with less than a minute to play.

Dan Shipanik opened the scoring on special teams by connecting on a 28-yard field goal with 8:18 remaining in the first quarter. The field goal capped a 12-play drive to open the contest. Greg Simms plunged in from a yard out following an interception by Rodney Nichols on the ensuing drive to extend the lead to 10-0.

North Park pulled with 17-7 by scoring on the opening drive of the second half and added a field goal after a three and out to claw within a touchdown at 17-10. McNulty carried six times on the next drive and scored his first touchdown to again provide some distance. Benedictine scored the final 19 points of the game to account for the final.

Benedictine forced six punts and held a commanding advantage in time of possession at 35:27-24:33. Quarterback Cyle Schultz completed 16 passes for 184 yards. McNulty carried 35 times in the game. Lecas picked off a pair of passes and registered 11 tackles. Dylan Rose also made 11 stops on the defensive side while Kris Roseman notched 10 tackles.
