Chris Rusiewicz took over an 0-10 team when he became head coach at Guilford, and after nine seasons, he had led the Quakers to an eight-win season and a nine-win season. But Rusiewicz is out at head coach, after an early October coaching coach in this 2020 fall without games.

Guilford was 2-8 last season, which ended nearly 11 months ago. Rusiewicz was 44-45 in his nine seasons as head coach.

Brad Davis, a former Quaker player and an assistant coach for the past 12 seasons, was named interim head coach. The announcement was made by athletic director Sharon Beverly, an interim in her position as well.

Davis began as an assistant coach in the spring of 2008 before being promoted to assistant head football coach in 2019, in addition to his roles as the team's offensive line coach, run-game coordinator, and recruiting coordinator. 

A 2008 graduate of Guilford, Davis started 33 of 34 career games for Guilford and garnered second team All-ODAC honors as a senior. The left tackle also won the Quakers' 2008 Charlie Griffin Award, given for loyalty and dedication to the team. A member of Guilford's spring 2008 student-athlete honor roll, Davis earned his degree in criminal justice.
