Offense QB Roy Hampton, Sr., Trinity (Texas)
Hampton completed 17 of 25 passes for 401 yards and five touchdowns in
a 55-23 win against Centre. His day was the third-best efficiency rating
in school history at 268.74, raising his Division III-leading mark to
191.9.
OL Michael Day, Ken Knight, Jason Cooper, Dustin Newman,
Ranardo Whitaker, Bridgewater
The Eagles rolled up 489 yards behind the solid line play. Bridgewater
limited Emory & Henry All-American defensive end Jelani Patterson
to just one sack, which was his only tackle of the game. The starting
unit had over 300 yards total offense in the first half as BC rolled to
a 35-3 halftime lead en route to the 48-18 win.
RB Justin Frisk, Sr., Thomas More
Frisk posted the second-highest rushing total in Division III this year
against Chapman. His attempts (45) and yardage (280) were career-highs
and he totaled 373 all-purpose yards as he caught three passes for 57
yards and a score. He accounted for for of the team's six touchdowns and
24 points in a 48-43 loss.
RB Jared Morris, Sr., Lycoming
Morris led Lycoming to a 35-12 victory against Albright to end a two-game
losing skid. The senior tailback carried the ball 16 times for 178 yards
an average of 11.1 yards per carry and scored three times
on runs of 32-, 31-, and 86- yards. He also caught two passes for 18 yards
and a fourth touchdown.
WR Evan Cochran, Sr., RPI
Cochran enjoyed a record-setting day as he caught eight passes for 235
yards and four touchdowns. His four TDs, which is a new school single-game
record, came from 79, 14, 45 and 18 yards. Rensselaer defeated Hartwick,
39-38, in a steady, first-half rain.
WR Brian Wolcott, So., Johns Hopkins
Wolcott snagged a career-high eight passes for 187 yards and two touchdowns
in a 17-12 loss at Randolph-Macon.
WR Dan Ryks, So., Hamline
Ryks caught seven passes for 201 yards in a 48-12 loss to St. Olaf, including
an 84-yard reception.
Defense
DL Chris Gallino, Sr., Franklin & Marshall
Gallino registered 15 tackles, including nine solo stops and three sacks
for 27 yards, forced and recovered a fumble late in the fourth quarter
and contained the Green Terror quarterbacks from scrambling for yardage
in a 10-6 loss to McDaniel. Overall, the Diplomats' defense held McDaniel's
offense to 262 yards of total offense and 10 points, 150 yards and 17
points below its season average.
DL Dan Flanagan, Sr., UW-Whitewater
Flanagan recorded eight tackles (three solo, one sack) in a 23-20 overtime
win against UW-La Crosse. He also intercepted a two-point conversion pass
attempt and blocked a pair of field goals (one of which led to UW-Whitewater's
first touchdown).
DL Vince King, Jr. Wartburg
King recorded 10 or more tackles for the second consecutive outing, with
11 (five solo), 3½ tackles for loss, two sacks and a pass broken
up in the 14-0 win at Central.
DL Brian Christopher, Sr., Ohio Northern
Christopher tallied three sacks for minus-17 yards, forced a fumble and
recovered a fumble in the Polar Bears' win against Otterbein. Christopher
recorded 11 total tackles, including five for losses.
LB Matt Hadsell, So., Chicago
Hadsell had an interception, two pass breakups, and seven tackles as Chicago
defeated Rochester 42-7. Led by Hadsell, the Chicago defense allowed just
171 total yards and stopped the Yellowjackets on all 11 third-down attempts.
Hadsell's interception early in the fourth quarter thwarted a Rochester
drive at the Chicago 15-yard line.
LB Ryan Boatsman, Jr., Linfield
Boatsman returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown and made four
tackles, including a 9-yard sack in a 56-6 win against Menlo.
LB Ben Krasnoff, Jr., Washington & Lee
Krasnoff led the W&L defense with 14 tackles in a 26-14 win against
Sewanee. Krasnoff also posted four tackles for loss on the afternoon.
DB Brian Harnish, So., Fitchburg State
Harnish outscored Massachusetts Maritime by himself, helping limit them
to 81 yards of total offense while returning an interception 50 yards
for a touchdown and a punt 51 yards for another score. He finished with
five tackles, all solo, two more passes broken up and two tackles for
loss in the 32-0 win.
DB Curan Oatts,
So., Frostburg State
Oatts enjoyed his best performance of his brief career, setting career
highs with nine tackles and two interceptions in FSU's 35-14 Homecoming
win against Ursinus. Oatts' first pick at the FSU 1-yard line thwarted
a Bear scoring drive, and he returned his second interception 44 yards
for his first career touchdown to cap the Bobcat scoring.
DB Alex Hansen, So., Hardin-Simmons
Hansen had a pair of interceptions, including one in the end zone, in
the Cowboys' 43-22 win against East Texas Baptist. The two interceptions
tied Hansen with Will Wagner for the single-season school record with
eight. Hansen also recorded nine tackles, recovered a fumble and returned
one of the interceptions 44 yards. It was the third time this season he
has recorded two interceptions in a game.
DB Ben Gibboney, Fr., Susquehanna
Gibboney made a career-high 11 tackles and picked off two passes in a
45-17 victory against Juniata. Gibboney, whose father was the Eagles
head coach from 1995-97, recorded 10 solo stops and helped the Crusaders
limit Juniata to just 18 completions in 48 attempts for 184 yards.
Special teams
K George Theofilos, Jr., John Carroll
Theofilos tied a school record by making eight of eight extra point attempts
and also made a 33-yard field goal (his only attempt) to help supply 11
of John Carroll's season-high point total in a 59-21 win against Heidelberg.
P Mike Donnenwerth, Jr., Simpson
Four of Donnenwerth's seven punts landed inside the 20, including two
inside the 5, averaging more than 40 yards a kick. He rushed for a career
best 32-yard TD on a bootleg in the third quarter and was 14-for-20 passing
in a 35-6 win against Dubuque.
RET Ben Earls, So., Austin
Earls got Austin College off on the right foot in a 27-23 road win against
Mississippi College when he returned the opening kickoff 87 yards for
a touchdown. On the night, Earls returned four kicks for a total of 142
yards, and he also rushed for 12 yards on two carries.
