Johns Hopkins' Ryan Rice Earns Preseason All-America Honors

2014 Preseason All-America Team

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins senior cornerback Ryan Rice has earned Second Team Preseason All-America honors from it was recently announced. The team consists of a first and second team only and includes a total of 50 players, including six specialists.

Rice earned First Team All-South and First Team All-Centennial Conference honors last season, when he posted 27 tackles, including three for losses, and added three interceptions and four pass breakups. He returned one of his interceptions 26 yards for a touchdown at Moravian. Rice also excels in the classroom as he earned First Team Capital One Academic All-District honors and a spot on the Centennial Conference Football Academic Honor Roll last season.

Elected a co-captain by his teammates for the 2014 season, Rice helped lead Johns Hopkins to a 10-1 record, a fifth straight Centennial Conference title and a trip to the NCAA Playoffs in 2013. He has played in 33 games in his career and counts 87 tackles, 7.5 tackles for losses, 12 pass breakups and four interceptions to his credit.

Johns Hopkins will open the 2014 season on Saturday, September 6 when the Blue Jays welcome Randolph-Macon to Homewood Field. The Blue Jays have earned a trio of preseason top 20 rankings, including eighth by Lindy's College Football, 14th by and 16th by the Sporting News.
