Guilford's Stevenson Tabbed to D3football.com All-America Squad

More news about: Guilford

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's Satiir Stevenson added Third Team D3football.com All-America recognition to his list of 2013 honors. Stevenson was named one of 25 American Football Coaches' Association Division III All-Americans last week. He is the fifth Guilford student so honored and the Quakers' first since Kevin Vaughn '09 in 2008.

D3football.com published its 15th All-America team just prior to the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl, NCAA Division III's national championship game, last Friday night. The three All-American teams and honorable mention selections were elected by website staff members and NCAA Division III sports information directors.

Stevenson earned First Team All-South honors from D3football.com earlier this month and his second straight First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) award in November. The junior safety led the league with four interceptions and ranked 59th in NCAA Division III with 0.4 thefts per game. He also paced the Quakers with a career-high 81 tackles (47 solo), the league's eighth-best figure. Stevenson broke up five passes, forced a fumble and recovered a fumble. He had two 10-tackle efforts, including a career-high 16 at Catholic University. His 11 takedowns helped the Quakers to their first win at Bridgewater College since 1998. Stevenson made a career-high two interceptions in Guilford's victory over Shenandoah University. After three seasons, the team captain ranks seventh in school history with 10 career interceptions and is a three-time All-ODAC honoree.

Stevenson also returned punts for Guilford, averaging 8.2 yards per return, which stood second in the ODAC. He fielded 18 punts and compiled 147 return yards with a long return of 25 yards. His 8.2 yards-per-return average stood 66th among NCAA Division III leaders and ninth in school history.

Stevenson helped coach Chris Rusiewicz's Quakers post the program's first winning record (6-4) since 2007. Guilford finished second in the ODAC with a school-record 5-2 mark. The Quakers could return as many as 18 starters in 2014, including Stevenson.
