DUDLEY, Mass. – Nichols College sophomore Kenneth Doane II (Dudley, Mass.) has been named to the 2013-14 Capital One Division III Academic All-District 1 First Team.

Doane – who holds a 3.73 grade point average (GPA) as a sport management major – has appeared in four games for the Bison this season after suffering a season-ending injury late last fall. He has six tackles (four solo) from the defensive line position.

"I'm glad to have a student-athlete recognized for being a great student," said Nichols head football coach Kevin Loney. "From the moment Kenn walked on campus, he's had a goal of achieving the highest GPA of anyone on the team. The future is bright."

Doane was named to the Dean's List last year as a freshman. He was one of only two student-athletes from the New England Football Conference (NEFC) to garner academic all-district honors, joining junior offensive lineman Andrew McManus of Western New England University.

The Bison (1-6, 0-5 NEFC) head to Milton, Mass. this Saturday to face Curry College at 1 p.m.
