BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Former Wesley College quarterback Shane McSweeny has signed to play with the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks of the Professional Indoor Football League. The PIFL had its inaugural season in 2012 while the Steelhawks started play in 2013 and call the 6,000 seat Stabler Arena on the campus of Lehigh University home.
A native of Bensalem, Pa., which is just one hour away from Bethlehem, McSweeny started four seasons for the Wolverines and led Wesley to four ACFC Championships and a pair of NCAA South Region Titles. A 2011 First Team All-American and the South Region's Offensive Player of the Year, McSweeny holds Wesley single-season and career records for completion percentage (67.4 season, 62.1 career) and pass efficiency (181.2 season, 168.3 career). McSweeny also ranks second in school-history with 7,939 passing yards and 87 passing touchdowns while sitting ninth on the team's all-time rushing list with 1,779 yards.
