Illinois Wesleyan 7-0 for First Time Since '96 With Win

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - For the first time since 1996, the Illinois Wesleyan football team is 7-0 after a 30-19 College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin win over Wheaton at Tucci Stadium on Saturday, Oct. 26.

The No. 17-ranked Titans are 4-0 in the CCIW while the No. 10-ranked Thunder fell for the first time this season and are 6-1 and 3-1 in the league.

Senior Rob Gallik completed 24 of 39 passes for 267 yards and three touchdowns and found senior Tate Musselman for six grabs for 115 yards. Sophomore Artie Checchin caught seven passes for 84 yards with one TD and senior Alex Garvey made six receptions for 57 yards.

After recovering a Wheaton fumble at the 5 yard line, IWU's drive in the fourth quarter that sealed the win was a 15-play, 95-yard drive that chewed up 8:17 of the clock. Senior T.J. Stinde rushed the ball into the end zone from 22 yards away to give the Titans a 29-19 lead. Sophomore Michael Kelley added the extra point for the final scoring.

Kelley had field goals of 38, 20 and 33 yards along with three extra point kicks.

Stinde led the IWU rushers with 69 yards on 14 carries while senior Devonte Jones carried the ball 16 times for 59 yards.

Defensively, senior linebacker Chris Simms led IWU with nine total tackles, including two for loss, while junior Connor Klein added eight tackles and senior Kyle Pfister had seven tackles and made two quarterback sacks for -12 yards.

What's Next?
The Titans meet No. 4-ranked and also unbeaten North Central next Saturday at 1 p.m. at Tucci Stadium.
