HUNTINGDON, Pa. – Junior Ward Udinski (Doylestown, Pa./Central Bucks West) of the Juniata College football team was named Centennial Conference offensive player of the week, the league announced Sunday. This is his third time garnering the honor from the conference this season. The 6-2, quarterback had a hand in all four of the Eagles touchdowns in their 28-7 upset of Ursinus College Saturday.
"Ward is a passionate, competitive football player that is always striving to be the best and give his best for his team," said Juniata football head coach Tim Launtz. "He has earned the respect of the conference by his standard of play and his uncompromising competitiveness."
Udinski had a career-high 421 yards of total offense in the win over the Bears. He threw for three touchdowns, completing 25-of-36 passes for 324 yards. His fourth touchdown came on a career-long 49-yard run. Udinksi leads the league in passing touchdowns with 14 and sits second in passing yards. He also ranks top five in rushing touchdowns.
"Ward is not a quarterback that can run and he is not a running back who can throw," added Launtz. "They see that he is a football player."
Juniata (4-2, 3-2 Centennial) is gearing up to return home this Saturday, Oct. 26 for its homecoming game against Muhlenberg at noon. The Eagles are currently tied for fourth place in the Centennial with Muhlenberg.
