(PITTSBURGH, Pa.) – The Carnegie Mellon University football team will travel to Macon, Georgia on Saturday, October 19 to play Mercer University. The Bears are a member of the Division I non-scholarship Pioneer Football League for the 2013 season before becoming a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) Southern Conference for the start of the 2014 season.

The meeting on Saturday marks the first between the two schools, as Mercer is playing its first season of football since 1941.  Carnegie Mellon enters the contest Saturday with an all-time record of 16-4 against Non Division III opponents since the NCAA formed a Division III in 1973.  The last meeting for the Tartans against a Non Division III opponent was in 2000, as the Tartans defeated Division II Gannon University 48-7 at Gesling Stadium in Pittsburgh.

Carnegie Mellon will travel to Macon with a record of 3-3 while the Bears bring a 5-1 record to the gridiron on Saturday. Kick is set for 1:00 p.m. at Mercer University Stadium.
