More news about: Wesley

LEESBURG, Va. – Sophomore quarterback Joe Callahan, junior wide receiver Steve Koudossou and junior defensive end Aamir Petrose were named to the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Division III Football Team of the Week, it was announced by the website this morning. Callahan and Koudossou also shared Eastern College Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors for their performances in #5 Wesley's, 33-21 victory over #20 Widener.

Additionally, the offensive line of freshman tackle DJ Taylor, sophomore guard Matthew Schmidt, junior center Alex Niezgoda, sophomore guard Devin Filliben and sophomore tackle Temi Adebayo was named the BSN Offensive Line of the Week. Also referenced in the offensive line was senior tight end Ishamar Malcolm and senior fullback Jeremiah Howe.

In his first career start, Callahan threw for a Wesley single-game record 510 yards with five touchdowns and no interceptions.  A native of Abesecon, N.J., Callahan's 37 completions were also a school single-game record and he currently leads the Nation in total offense after running for an additional 13 yards.

A speedy receiver from Waldorf, Md., Koudossou also had a record-setting game, setting Wolverine records for receptions (17) and receiving yards (266), while tying the school-record for receiving touchdowns (four). His 17 receptions and four scores were the most Nationally after the first game and his receiving yards rank second in the country.

Petrose had a career game with 2.5 sacks and four tackles while doing most of his damage in the second half when Wesley forced three Pride three-and-outs and held Widener scoreless. A native of Woodbury, N.J., Petrose had just five career sacks going into the matchup with the Pride.

The offensive line kept Callahan on his feet for most of the game and helped the Wolverines gain 644 yards of offense (134 rushing). Wesley also recorded 31 first downs on the night.
