Sottilare To Compete at BSN Collegiate Showcase

More news about: Wesley

AKRON, Ohio – Wesley College's Justin Sottilare will be one of three Division III players to play at the Beyond Sports Network (BSN) Collegiate Showcase on Sunday, March 10 at the Stile Athletic Field House on the University of Akron campus.

Fans will be able to watch the showcase live on www.bsncollegiateshowcase.com

A quarterback from Columbia, Md., Sottilare joins Adrian wide receiver Justin Hemm and Delaware Valley offensive guard John Lavelle as the only Division III players in the Showcase that features primarily Division I FCS and Division II student-athletes.

A two-year starter on the Wolverines, Sottilare threw for 6,673 yards and 74 touchdowns while completing nearly 60% of his passes.  Sottilare led Wesley to the NCAA Tournament in both seasons and threw for a school-record 38 touchdowns in 2010 and was subsequently named the South Region Offensive Player of the Year.

Other quarterbacks that will participate in the showcase are Nick Elko from Delaware State, Cal Poly's Andre Broadous, John Laub of Richmond, McMurry's Jake Mullin and Kameron Smith of Winston Salem State.

Invited players will get the chance to perform in front of General Managers, Scouts, and representatives from the (NFL) National Football League, (CFL) Canadian Football League, (AFL) Arena Football League, among other professional football leagues. BSN has a relationship with the BIG Ten Officials who officiate the 1 v 1's, 7 v 7's, and the All Star Game during the 3 day showcase.

Eighteen players, including former Wolverines Mike Asiedu and Chris Mayes, have played in the showcase and went on to play professionally.
