Aberdeen, SD

It was a fitting send off to the 3 Senior members of the PC Saints Football Program. The Saints scored on offense, defense, and held Trinity Bible College scoreless through 3 quarters. PC rolling over the Lions 50-18, ending their 2nd full season with a win.

Prior to the game, Seniors Sean Haderlie, Jalanni James, and Cullen O'Brien were honored for their participation in Saints Football from day 1 of the program. And from the start of this one, it was clear PC was not going to see those 3 off without a win. The Saints took the opening drive of the game 52 yards in 2:25. Freshman WR/KR Keenan Honore taking a handoff and running right through the Lions D for a 19 yard score and a 7-0 lead. Honore finished with 40 yards rushing and 62 yards in returns, giving him 102 all purpose yards on the day, and 1,278 on the year.

The Saints took over on downs the very next possession, and turned that into another touchdown. Sophomore RB Will Vealy finding the end zone from 3 yards out, putting the Saints up 14-0. Vealy rushed for 75 yards, giving him a team high 674 for the season. The Lions then gave 2 points to PC. A bad snap on a punt, one of several made by Trinity Bible, led to P Christian Troxler kicking the ball out of bounds through the end zone for a safety and a 16-0 lead. After receiving the ball back, the Saints turned that blunder into 3 more points, Gavin Voss splitting the uprights from 21 yards out made it 19-0 after one quarter of play. Head Coach Andy Carr credits a solid week of preparation for the quick start. "The guys came out focused and knew what they needed to do. We had a good week of practice and it showed in the way we executed from our opening drive."

The Saints poured it on in quarter number 2. Junior QB Stephen Braswell completed just 6 of 12 passes, however 3 of those were for touchdowns. He threw his first TD to Junior RB Eric Schueth for a 26-0 lead. He would also find Senior WR/TE Sean Haderlie in the back of the end zone, that made it a 48-0 lead, and "made his day" as to how he and the other 2 Seniors wanted their careers to end. "You can't script a better way to end the season, under the lights with a win over our rival" Haderlie said. "There aren't words to describe how I feel."

There is a word to describe Coach Carr's defense on the night; Dominant. The Saints held Trinity Bible to minus 140 yards total offense in the first half. Sophomore LB Derek Buthe recovering a forced fumble in the end zone. Then right before the half, the Saints D came up with their second safety of the game, forcing a completed pass by Barry Bighorn in the Lions end zone to WR Devin Christy, however Buthe was there to drop Christie in the end zone giving the Saints 2 more points for the half century mark.

A good night all around for the Saints. Coach Carr acknowledging everyone involved deserves this type of end to the season. "This was a great win for our program, great for our underclassmen and a great way for us to honor our seniors. It was a very special and exciting night, and we will remember this win for a long time."
