WILKES-BARRE (PA) – Delaware Valley College junior tailback Kyle Schuberth rushed for three touchdowns while the Aggie defense posted its first road shutout in six years with a 38-0 triumph at King's College in a Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) game.

The win was the fourth straight for Delaware Valley as the four-time defending conference champions improved to 4-2 overall and 4-1 in the MAC. The Monarchs fell to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in league action.

Schuberth carried the ball 21 times for 86 yards, including scoring runs of 11, six and one yard. It upped his career total to 24 rushing touchdowns, moving him into a tie for fourth place on the all-time list.

Delaware Valley took the opening kickoff and drove deep into Monarch territory. The drive was aided by a big pair of receptions by Lewis Vincent, one a 30-yard gain and the other a 17-yard catch on a third-and-five. The drive stalled at the 13-yard line, but Brandon Snyder booted his first field goal of the year, a 30-yarder, to give the Aggies a 3-0 lead with 9:41 left in the opening quarter.

After a three-and-out, Delaware Valley took over again and drove to the King's 20-yard line where it faced a fourth-and-seven. Quarterback Aaron Wilmer hit Rasheed Bailey for a nine-yard pass to move the sticks. On the next play, Schuberth took a handoff and found the end zone from 11 yards out. Snyder capped the 11-play, 66-yard drive with the extra-point and a 10-0 lead with 3:33 on the clock in the first quarter.

King's drove to the Aggie 35-yard line on its ensuing drive but a Dwayne Shaw sack on a fourth-down play gave Delaware Valley the ball at its own 42. Seven plays later, Schuberth scored on a six-yard touchdown run for a 17-0 advantage just three minutes into the second quarter.

The Aggies were stopped deep in their own territory on their next possession and King's eventually took over at the Delaware Valley 35. The Monarchs moved down to the 10-yard line for a first-and-goal, but, on second down, linebacker John Eberly stripped the ball loose and recovered it to stop the drive. It stayed a 17-0 ballgame into the intermission.

King's received the opening kickoff of the second half and was stopped. Its punt was then blocked by the Aggies' Shawn Miller and they took over at the Monarch 29-yard line. It took seven plays for Schuberth to hit the end zone for the third time, this one a one-yard run to increase the Delaware Valley advantage to 24-0 midway through the third.

Wilmer called his own number late in the closing minute of the third as he scored on an eight-yard run to cap a 13-play, 56-yard drive. Snyder's point-after made it 31-0. The Aggies then blocked another punt as Bailey came through and got the ball as Delaware Valley took over on the King's 23-yard line. However, the Aggies turned the ball over on downs.

The Monarchs moved the ball down inside the Delaware Valley 20, but linebacker Bernard Avery popped the ball out of a receiver's arms and Ken Kenner-English recovered to keep King's off the scoreboard. The offense responded with a nine-play, 89-yard scoring drive that culminated with a 22-yard touchdown pass from Wilmer to senior Danny Fierro. It was Fierro's first collegiate score and it made it 38-0 with 5:10 remaining.

King's reached the seven-yard line on its next possession, but a five-yard loss brought up a third-and-goal from the 12. Back-to-back incomplete passes gave the ball to Delaware Valley with 2:18 to go. The Aggies then ran the clock out for its first shutout away from Doylestown since a 16-0 blanking at Widener University back in 2006.

Delaware Valley finished the day with 432 yards of total offense. Wilmer was 18-for-29 for 191 yards and the one score. Chris Ruiz grabbed five passes for 67 yards and moved into 10th place on the school's all-time list with 96 career receptions. Freshman Dashown Waller netted 63 yards on six carries and 23 yards on two catches while Alquann Jones added 57 rushing yards.

Defensively, Eberly, Shaw and Shaquille Lee had six tackles apiece with Shaw adding two sacks and two pass breakups. The starting defensive line had a combined five breakups at the line of scrimmage.

Kyle McGrath led King's with 103 yards on 19 rushing attempts. Quarterback Tyler Hartranft was 11-for-33 for 164 yards. Ryan Cordingly returned from an opening-game injury and led the way with 12 tackles.
