Wesley's Kapepula Named ECAC Defensive Player of the Week

CENTERVILLE, Mass. – Wesley's College's Sosthene Kapepula has been named the Eastern College Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.  The 2011 ECAC Defensive Rookie of the Year, this is the first time that the sophomore linebacker has received the weekly honor from the conference.

A native of Olney, Md., Kapepula led the third-ranked Wolverines with a career-high 14 tackles in a 32-25 loss at #4 Mary Hardin-Baylor last Saturday.  He also broke up a pair of passes against the Crusaders. Kapepula also had 14 tackles and an interception against the Cru in the NCAA Quarterfinals last season.

Through three games in 2012, Kapepula leads Wesley with 30 tackles and five pass breakups from his 'Will' linebacker position.  He also has tallied 1.5 tackles for loss, a forced fumble and a fumble recovery.

Kapepula and the sixth-ranked Wolverines will face its third-straight ranked opponent this week when they travel to take on #25 Louisiana College on Saturday, September 22, at 8 pm Eastern.  Fans can follow the game live online at www.GoWesleyAthletics.com as Sean Greene calls the action on WDEL 1150 AM.
