ELMHURST, Ill. - The Elmhurst College football team recorded its second shutout and remained unbeaten on the season by blanking the University of Chicago 33-0 at Langhorst Field.

Elmhurst (3-0) outgained Chicago (1-2) by nearly 200 yards (431 to 230) while recording their second shutout of the season. The last time the Bluejays recorded two shutouts in the same season was 2003 when Elmhurst blanked Chicago and Carthage.

Scottie Williams celebrated his birthday by rushing 26 times for 191 yards and a touchdown, becoming the Bluejays' all-time rushing leader in the process. Williams surpassed Eric Luna's previous record of 3,561 and now stands at 3,736 career yards.

After sputtering on their opening drive, the Bluejays used a pair of big plays late in the first quarter to grab a 13-0 lead. After Elmhurst's defense stuffed Chicago on a fourth-and-two attempt, the Bluejays took over at their own 30-yard line. Four plays later, Williams found a hole down the middle and sprinted 51 yards to the end zone to give the Bluejays a 7-0 lead.

On Chicago's ensuing possession, Jamall Lane picked off a Kevin Shelton pass at the Maroons' 41-yard line. Elmhurst wasted no time extending its lead as Joe Furco threw a 41-yard scoring strike to Corey Thonn to stake the Bluejays to a 13-0 cushion.

Elmhurst's defense allowed only two first downs for the remainder of the half and the Bluejays led 13-0 at the break.

The Bluejays took the opening kickoff of the second half and promptly dove 67 yards in eight plays. Josh Williams capped the drive with a three-yard touchdown run to put the Bluejays on top 20-0.

The Bluejays capitalized on another Chicago turnover late in the third quarter. Alec Giles picked off Shelton and returned the ball to the Maroons' 38-yard line. Elmhurst drove inside the five-yard line and Furco found Ryan Maguire open for a three-yard touchdown reception, giving the Bluejays a 27-0 lead.

The third Chicago turnover of the game resulted in the Bluejays' final points of the contest. After Jared Pawlicki recovered a Chicago fumble at the Elmhurst 47-yard line, the Bluejays drove 53 yards in 10 plays for their final points of the night. Tom Lindal capped the drive with an eight-yard touchdown run.

Scottie Williams led the Bluejays on the ground as Elmhurst amassed 256 yards on 44 carries. Furco finished 13-of-16 through the air for 175 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Thonn was the Bluejays' top target, catching three passes for 57 yards and a touchdown.

Zak Ross-Nash led Chicago on the ground with 60 yards on 15 carries. Ian Gaines added 58 yards on 15 carries. Chicago quarterbacks Shelton and Vincent Cortina finished just 7-of-16 for 90 yards with three interceptions. Dee Brizzolara caught four passes for 67 yards.

Wayne Tuckson led Elmhurst's defense, finishing with a game-high 10 tackles, including three tackles for loss and a quarterback sack. Jamall Lane added eight tackles and recorded an interception.

Elmhurst opens CCIW play in two weeks by traveling to North Central College on September 29.
