FOREST GROVE – Pacific University's Moses Villareal-Gomez (So., Stockton, Calif.) was perfect on a winning night for Pacific Saturday, earning the kicker selection as the Northwest Conference's Football Special Teams Student-Athlete of the Week.  The award, as selected by the conference's sports information directors, was announced on Tuesday.
Villareal-Gomez went 2 for 2 on field goals, hitting from 37 yards and from 32 yards.  He also went 3 for 3 on point-after attempts as the Boxers beat Occidental 27-6.  The victory was the first road win for Pacific since the program was reinstated in 2010.
"The field goals Moses made to end the first half and start the second were big points for us as we built a three-score lead over Occidental," said Pacific Head Coach Keith Buckley.  "It was great to see him kick with confidence on the road and we look forward to counting on his consistency moving forward."
Villareal-Gomez capped a 17-point second quarter scoring barrage for the Boxers, kicking a season-long 37-yard field goal with 18 seconds left that gave Pacific a 17-0 halftime lead.  He then returned to start the third quarter with a 32-yard kick to open up a 20-0 lead.
An Honorable Mention All-NWC selection in 2011 as a freshman, Villareal-Gomez enters the week having made all five of his extra point attempts and having made two of three field goal attempts.  He ranks tied for first in the NWC in kick scoring with his 11 points.
With the victory, Pacific improved their record to 1-1 overall.  The Boxers will enjoy the bye week this weekend before returning to play on Sat., Sept. 22, in a non-conference game at Willamette.
