Dylan Rushe honored with All-America status by D3football.com

More news about: Endicott

SALEM, Va. – On the night of the NCAA Division III Championship game between UW-Whitewater and Mount Union, D3football.com announced their selections for the 2011 All-America Team and Endicott sophomore kicker Dylan Rushe (Palos Verdes, Calif.) was placed on the Second Team marking the first time a Gulls football player has earned All-America status.

Just two weeks ago, Rushe, a NEFC Boyd First Team and a Fred Mitchell Award Watch List Placekicker, was named to the D3football.com All-East Region First Team after ranking second in the nation in field goals per game (1.55) and 28th in scoring per game (9.36) this season.  His All-Region First Team selection made him eligible for the All-America Team.

In 2011, Rushe was 17-of-26 for field goal attempts and 51-of-53 in point after attempts for 102 points which ranked him second behind Framingham State's Melikke Van Alstyne (130) in the New England Football Conference.  His longest field goal make on the season, a 55-yard boot in a 55-7 rout over Curry, was an Endicott record and his 17 field goals was the most by a New England placekicker since both he (2010) and Curry kicker David Vincent (2007) made 14.

Rushe also handled all the kickoff and punting duties for the Blue and Green for the majority of the season.  He averaged 53.8 yards per kickoff with seven touchbacks and 36.3 yards per punt with 15 punts downed inside the opposition's 20-yard line.

In 2010, Rushe had a stellar rookie season and was named NEFC Boyd First Team, D3football.com All-East Region First Team, and ECAC Division III North Special Teams All-Star.

D3football.com's First Team All-America kicker was Texas Lutheran's Allen Cain who was also named All-America by Associated Press Little and the American Football Coaches Association.  Cain and Rushe tied for a NCAA Division III-best 17 field goals in 2011.  Cain was tops in the country in field goals per game (1.70).
