TIFFIN, Ohio—Heidelberg University sophomore two-time All-Ohio Athletic Conference running back Germany Woods (Cleveland/Lakewood St. Edward) was selected as the Division III offensive player of the year to highlight the Division III All-Ohio team as picked by OhioCollegeFootball.com. Senior two-time All-OAC offensive tackle Derrick Arbogast (Tiffin/Calvert) and junior offensive tackle Quinten Rembert (Garfield Heights) were both named to the Division III All-Ohio second team.

The trio joins fifth-year head coach Mike Hallett, who was named Division III coach of the year by OhioCollegeFootball.com two weeks ago.

Woods, a first-team All-Ohio Athletic Conference and All-North Region (D3Football.com) running back this season, had a record-breaking season for the Berg in which he led the OAC during the regular season and set the school single-season record with 1,421 rushing yards yards—breaking the previous record by 90 yards in 68 less carries—and scored 11 touchdowns. He had his best game against Marietta College (Oct. 22) when he rushed a career-high 34 times for a season-high 226 yards and two scores. He also rushed for a season-high three TDs in a season-ending win against Ohio Northern University (Nov. 12).

Woods went over the century mark in rushing in eight of 10 games this season and has accomplished the feat in 12 of his past 14 contests dating back to 2010. In 20 career games, Woods has totaled 2,455 yards in 397 attempts, scored 21 TDs and averages 122.8 yards per game.

Rembert—a first-team All-OAC selection in 2011—and Arbogast—who earned second-team All-OAC, Academic All-OAC and first-team Capital One Academic All-America honors this season—anchored an offensive line that paved the way for 4,572 yards of total offense, just 26 yards shy of the single-season school record set a year ago, while allowing Student Prince quarterbacks to be sacked just nine times, tying for a league best. The Heidelberg ground game featured a 100-yard rusher in eight of 10 contests, including a pair of 100-yard rushers in the last four games of the season. The offense racked up 400 total yards in four games, including a 500-yard outburst in the season's opening contest.

The coach of the year accolade is the third for Hallett this season following his selection by his peers as OAC coach of the year and North Region Coach of the Year (D3Football.com).

Heidelberg closed the 2011 season with an 8-2 record—its best mark since 1993—and 7-2 in the OAC to finish in a tie for second place. In the 10 years prior to Hallett's arrival (1997-06), the Berg went 15-85, including a 1-39 stretch from 2003-06.

Maintenance in progress.
