More news about: Johns Hopkins

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior safety Michael Milano(Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 37-9 win over Ursinus on Saturday. The Blue Jays secured the league's automatic bid to the upcoming NCAA Playoffs and at least a share of the Centennial Conference title with the victory.

Milano posted seven tackles, including one sack, and added two pass breakups to lead a defense that held Ursinus to 132 yards of total offense, including just 50 yards passing and 82 yards rushing. The 132 yards allowed mark the fourth time this season that Johns Hopkins has held the opposition to less than 200 yards and the sixth time the Blue Jays have allowed less than 225 yards.

Milano, a two-time First Team All-Centennial selection, counts 23 tackles, including four tackles for loss and one sack, and three pass breakups to his credit this season. He anchors a defense that is allowing just 9.2 points and 196.9 yards per game.

Johns Hopkins (8-0, 7-0 CC) has won a school-record 13 consecutive games and will host Franklin & Marshall on Saturday at noon in the Blue Jays' final regular season home game of the 2011 season. The 8-0 start for the Blue Jays is the best in school history and JHU can tie the Centennial Conference record for most consecutive wins with a victory over the Diplomats on Saturday.
