Younker, Rogers Earn National Recognition

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. - Cal Lutheran football teammates Rian Younker and Eric Rogers were each named to the National Team of the Week for their respective performances during a 56-0 victory this past Saturday over Whittier.

From his nose guard position on the CLU defensive line Younker recorded six total tackles (five solo) Younker led the team with 4.5 tackles for loss including 2.5 sacks. He spearheaded the effort against the Poets rush attack which was held to 45 yards on 35 carries.

Rogers hauled in six catches for 206 yards and two touchdowns during the first half against Whittier. He became the first Kingsmen in the program's 50-plus year history to amass 200-plus receiving yards in a home game. All six of his receptions covered at least 20 yards and resulted in either first downs or scores.

Rogers was also named the SCIAC Male Athlete of the Week and became the second Kingsmen football team member in as many weeks to earn the honor. Quarterback Jake Laudenslayer earned similar recognition after sparking a fourth quarter comeback to defeated Redlands 28-24.
