The Illinois College football team rebounded from a slow start and sealed its fourth win of the season with a big fourth quarter in a game against Lawrence University on Saturday in Appleton, Wis. The Blueboys won 54-44.
IC (4-1, 3-1 MWC) trailed Lawrence (1-4, 1-3) by two touchdowns just over five minutes into the game. The Blueboys didn't take their first lead until Colin Duling touchdown reception in midway through the fourth quarter. They sealed the win with three touchdowns over a four-minute span in the fourth quarter.
Quarterback Michael Bates threw for 309 yards and five touchdowns with only one interception. Duling caught seven passes for 127 yards and three scores. Running back Cecil Brimmage ran for 149 yards and two scores. Brock Thompson and Kevin Fuller also caught touchdown passes. Matt Williamson added a rushing TD.
Dylan DeFauw had a team-high nine tackles for IC. Kurt Frischman had three sacks for the Blueboys. Joe Gaines, Keith Hunter and Eric Fisher had interceptions.
Illinois College will return to Jacksonville next Saturday for its homecoming game against St. Norbert College. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
