PITTSBURGH, Pa. – The Carnegie Mellon University football
team will entertain the Tigers of Wittenberg University, Saturday,
October 23 at Gesling Stadium. Carnegie Mellon will enter
Saturday's 1:00 p.m. kick with a 4-2 mark, as the Tigers are
unbeaten at 7-0 and are ranked seventh nationally.
Saturday, will mark the fifth meeting for the schools as the series
is tied at two games apiece. The first-ever meeting was in 1938, as
then Carnegie Tech won, 32-13. The Tartans then recorded a 35-0
shutout victory the following year. In 2008, Wittenberg defeated
the Tartans, 21-14, in Pittsburgh before winning 28-7 last year in
Springfield, Ohio.
Carnegie Mellon enters the game following an off week after
defeating Ohio Wesleyan 35-23, October 9, to extend its winning
streak to three games. Wittenberg dominated Kenyon College
this past Saturday, winning 52-0, running the Tigers regular season
winning streak to 17 games.
