DE PERE, Wis. - St. Norbert College set a school record for points in a game with a 77-26 Midwest Conference over Lawrence University at Kolstad Field at Schneider Stadium.

The Green Knights surpassed the previous high set in a 70-13 win at Illinois College on Sept. 27, 1997. The combined point total of 103 also set a St. Norbert record, passing a 57-41 loss to Carroll University on Nov. 6, 1993.

St. Norbert capitalized on five Lawrence turnovers, including four in the second half that led to 28 points. An unsuccessful fake punt by Lawrence on the game's first possession also led to a quick touchdown. The Green Knights had an average starting field position of their own 43-yard line, while Lawrence averaged starting at their own 28.

St. Norbert quarterback Rob Berger tied a school record with five touchdown passes, and completed 12 of 19 aerials for 250 yards. Berger also rushed nine times for 87 yards and one touchdown.

The Green Knights, who had 683 yards in a 49-0 win over Knox last week, had 622 yards of total offense against the Vikings. St. Norbert rushed for 346 yards on 49 carries, and averaged 8.8 yards per play. It was only the seventh time in school history St. Norbert passed 600 yards in total offense in a game.

St. Norbert led 14-0 after the first quarter on touchdown passes from Berger to Josh Quezada and Logan Krueger of 17 and 26 yards, respectively.

Lawrence answered with a 93-yard drive in the sceond quarter to cut it to 14-6 on a 29-yard touchdown pass from Luke Barthelmess to Jon Bruehl. St. Norbert countered with a 43-yard touchdown strike from Berger to a wide open Nick Wilson down the middle. John Weninger's 6-yard touchdown run gave St. Norbert a 27-6 halftime lead.

St. Norbert scored four third-quarter touchdowns to blow the game open. Berger hit Adam Gruett and Quezada on touchdown passes of 30 and 27 yards, respectively. Berger had an 11-yard touchdown run, and Gruett added a 50-yard scamper for a 56-12 lead after three quarters.
