BRIDGEWATER, Mass. -- Bridgewater State University junior place kicker Dave Leombruno has been selected as the New England Football Conference (NEFC) Co-Special Teams Player of the week. Leombruno shares this week's honor along with Coast Guard Academy senior, Pat Bennett.

Leombruno booted a game-winning, 37-yard field goal with six seconds remaining in the fourth quarter to lift Bridgewater to a dramatic 10-7 victory over UMass Dartmouth on Saturday. He also converted his only extra point attempt and averaged 51.0 yards on three kickoffs with one touchback.

A native of Lakeville, Massachusetts, Leombruno is in his third season with the Bears. He has converted 63 of 67 point after tries (PAT) as well as 5 of 11 field goal attempts since arriving at Bridgewater as a freshman in 2007.

After taking over the place kicking duties midway through the 2007 season, Leombruno promptly converted 53 consecutive extra point attempts over the course of two seasons to set the program record. His 45 successful PATs in 2008 is tied for the second highest single-season total in BSU football history.

After returning to the Bears' lineup this season after not playing in 2009, Leombruno has picked up right where he left off as he is 5-for-6 in extra point attempts. The 37-yard game-winning field goal against UMass is also his career long.

Bridgewater State (2-0) returns to the gridiron on Saturday afternoon as the Bears host Plymouth State University (1-1) at 1:00 PM.
