READING, Pa. — In their 2010 home opener, the Lions (0-1) dropped a 21-13 non-conference decision to the visiting Bears of Ursinus College (1-0) Saturday evening at Shirk Stadium in front of a crowd of 2,030 fans.

Leading the charge for the Bears was quarterback Justin Decristofaro who totaled 248 passing yards and 21-for-35. He also threw two of the Bears three TD's and was sacked just one time. On the ground, Decrsitofaro rushed for a team best 45 yards and one touchdown. Teddy Conrad was second on the team in rushing with 42 yards on 18 carries.

For the Lions, they used a trio of quarterbacks for the 2010 opener. Junior Mike Cattolico led the team with 123 passing yards and one touchdown. Freshman Ben Schaffle made his collegiate debut Saturday evening and on his only drive went 4-for-7 with 78 yards.

Junior tailback Josan Holmes had a solid evening rushing for 70 yards on 16 carries. He also tallied the red and white's final touchdown of the night late in the fourth quarter. Scoring Albright's first score of the night was Scott Pillar.

Looking to build off of the successes that were the 2009 season, the Lions took their home field in front of a loud and boisterous crowd. The Lions tacked on the first score of the night on Pillar's five yard touchdown reception from Cattolico.

The Lions defense would then hold the Bears off the scoreboard until the 11:25 mark in the second quarter. Following back-to-back scores in the second, Ursinus found itself in control of the game going into halftime.

Leading the defensive unit was junior Francis Hall and senior Rob Mancinelli who combined for 21 stops respectively. Hall also helped out on the only Albright sack on the night.

They then secured the win in the third on a Decristofaro six-yard run to take a 21-7 lead. Down but not out, Albright tried to battle back throughout the final two quarters but was unable to get anything going.

Holmes would count for the final score of the evening on a two-yard touchdown run with only 44 seconds left in the fourth. A miss point after attempt and a failed onsides kick attempt sealed the win for the Bears, their first over Albright since 2006.

The Lions return to action next Saturday when they travel to Geneva College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match-up as part of the PAC-MAC Challenge.
