|Thursday, Sept. 3: Franklin and Marshall at Lebanon Valley
Friday, Sept. 4: Salisbury at Albright
Saturday, Sept. 5: Hobart at Dickinson
Saturday, Sept. 5: Gallaudet at Shenandoah
If starting in Connecticut is not ideal for you, let's raise the curtain on the season in Annville, Pa., home of Lebanon Valley College, which is within a six-hour drive of seemingly half of Division III. We open with Franklin and Marshall at Lebanon Valley, two schools which first met in 1899 but have not played football against each other since 1982. You're blessed with a really short trip on Friday to see Salisbury at Albright, so perhaps you might want to consider a short side trip to Hersheypark while you have some time. Albright starts its MAC season with Widener and Lycoming, so, sure, let's also play Salisbury Week 1. We move on to Saturday afternoon with a reasonable 80-mile trip to see Hobart at Dickinson in a noon start. Hobart has owned thie series for the past five years, though, so you might want to seek out alternatives that are more competitive. Then you have a relatively easy drive down I-81 to see Gallaudet at Shenandoah to close the weekend. The nice thing about this itinerary is that you get to see representatives of six conferences: the Centennial, ECFC, LL, MAC, NJAC and ODAC.
If you're looking to do a little more driving on Friday, you have a couple options. Would you rather see Gettysburg at Bridgewater on Friday? That can happen. Saturday afternoon, Grove City at Juniata? Only adds a hundred miles total to the trip. Or if you want to shorten your trip, try swapping out the Gallaudet-Shenandoah game and seeing Catholic at McDaniel on Saturday night. Lots of options in this part of the country.
