We'd rather not repeat options but there are only a few Friday night games, and there will be even fewer as the season progresses. Starting in D.C. you could get a lot of places, if you're willing to drive overnight. We start with Carnegie Mellon at Catholic, a game which was a particular thriller two years ago. From there, you have a drive for five and a half hours to Cortland to hit a noon game featuring William Paterson at Cortland. We follow with a significantly shorter drive to see Utica at Hobart.

Alternately, you could start at Catholic, then head to Newport News, Va., to see Greensboro at Apprentice School, a former Atlantic Central Football Conference member, then Shenandoah at Christopher Newport. Because of Tufts at Wesleyan, a rare Saturday night game in New England, you could create an itinerary that includes Hampden-Sydney at Coast Guard and never leaves the Northeast. And there are two-game itineraries that involve either the opening of the new Mary Hardin-Baylor stadium or the new Southwestern program.

Total: Three games, 406 miles start to finish.
