Widener football coach Isaac Collins has stepped down to take over as coach at Division II Seton Hill in Greensburg, Pa.

He replaces Joel Dolinski, whose program has gone 4-40 over the past four seasons. Seton Hill was once on the list to join Division III, but chose Division II instead.

In 2010, Collins took over a program which was 3-7 the year before and placed it back in the national conversation. He went 25-8 over three seasons for the Pride, including an ECAC Bowl victory in 2011 and the school’s league-record 19th Middle Atlantic Conference title in 2012.

In 2012, Widener (11-1, 8-0 MAC) advanced to the national quarterfinals for the first time since 2001, started 11-0 for just the fourth time in school history, tied a school record with seven victories at Leslie C. Quick Jr. Stadium, and appeared in postseason for the 18th year.

Eight of the Pride players were named first team All-MAC, two were picked second team all-league and three were named honorable mention.

Among the list of first-team players were senior quarterback Chris Haupt and sophomore wide receiver/returner Anthony Davis. Haupt was picked Offensive Player of the Year for the MAC and both were tabbed first team all-league. Haupt also was named the ECAC South Offensive Player of the Year, while Davis was D3football.com second-team All-Region.

For his efforts, Collins was named MAC and D3football.com East Region Coach of the Year this season.

A national search will begin immediately for his successor.
